Bucket Widget

The Bucket widget lets you assign your selected tracks to one or more buckets or playlists. Think of buckets as organizational folders — they help you group songs by project, playlist, client, or any category that makes sense for your workflow.

When you open the activity panel after selecting tracks, the Bucket widget appears with a list of all your available buckets, checkboxes for assignment, and a search feature to find buckets quickly.

When you have tracks selected, the widget displays every bucket in your workspace with a checkbox next to each one. To assign a track to a bucket, simply check the box. The assignment happens immediately — the widget updates its visual state right away.

If you’re working with a single track, you can assign it to as many buckets as you need. This is useful when a song belongs to multiple projects or playlists simultaneously.

When you check a bucket, the widget marks it as “selected” and moves it to the top of the list under a highlighted section. Unchecking removes it from that section. Each bucket shows a track count badge so you can see how many songs are already in each bucket at a glance.

Assignments use a junction table internally, which means the system tracks each track-to-bucket connection separately. This lets you assign the same track to multiple buckets without conflicts.

At the top of the bucket list, you’ll find an “Unassigned” option. When selected, this marks the track as not belonging to any bucket. This is helpful for filtering your grid view to show only tracks that haven’t been organized yet.

The Unassigned option appears as a distinct row with a clear visual separation from the regular buckets below.

Your workspace includes a system bucket called “Archived” that appears at the very bottom of the list. This bucket is visually dimmed to distinguish it from active buckets.

Archiving a track moves it out of your main working view while keeping it accessible. It’s perfect for songs you’ve finished, rejected, or put on hold indefinitely.

If you have many buckets, use the search box at the top of the widget. As you type, the list filters in real-time to show only buckets matching your query. This makes it easy to find the right bucket without scrolling through your entire list.

The search matches against bucket names, so you can type “Client A” or “Summer Playlist” to narrow down the options quickly.

When you select two or more tracks in the grid, the Bucket widget adapts to support bulk operations. The widget header shows how many tracks are currently selected.

When multiple tracks are selected, you can choose how changes apply across your selection. The widget displays your current bulk apply mode setting with a link to change it in Settings if needed. Your options typically include:

  • Replace all — assigns the same bucket(s) to every selected track
  • Add to existing — adds buckets to each track without removing current assignments
  • Remove from all — removes the selected bucket(s) from every track

When your selected tracks have different bucket assignments, the widget shows the combined picture — any bucket assigned to at least one track appears as checked. This gives you a complete view before making bulk changes.

After checking or unchecking buckets, click the Save button at the bottom of the widget. The button becomes active when changes are pending. When you save, the widget sends your changes to the server and updates the track records.

The interface uses optimistic updates, meaning you see the changes reflected immediately in the UI while the save happens in the background. If the save fails for any reason, the widget reverts to the previous state and shows an error message.
