Export Widget

The Export widget in the activity panel lets you generate split sheets and onboarding documents from your track metadata. You can export to CSV, Excel, or PDF formats depending on the destination platform — perfect for sending to music distributors, PROs, or collaborators.

When you select tracks in the grid and open the Export widget, it gathers all the relevant metadata — composer splits, ISRC codes, artist names, durations, and more — and packages it into a downloadable file tailored to your needs.

The widget intelligently scans your selected tracks for missing information and warns you before export, so you do not send incomplete documents to labels or publishers.

The Export widget works with highlighted tracks in the grid — not bucket assignments. This means you have precise control over exactly which songs go into each export.

Single selection — select one track to export its individual split sheet.

Multiple selection — highlight multiple tracks in the grid to batch-export them together. The widget shows a count (e.g., “3 tracks selected”) so you know what you are about to export.

If no tracks are selected, the widget displays a prompt: “Select tracks to export” with a hint to highlight songs in the grid.

Before you export, the widget checks each selected track for essential metadata. If anything is missing, you will see warnings displayed prominently above the export options:

  • Tracks missing ISRC codes
  • Tracks missing ISWC codes
  • Tracks missing artist name
  • Tracks missing duration

These warnings appear in amber to catch your attention without blocking the export. You can still proceed with incomplete data, but the resulting split sheets will have gaps.

Next to the warning summary, you will find a “Fill Details” button. Clicking it opens the Musical Attributes widget in a popup, pre-loaded with the selected track. From there, you can add missing ISRCs, ISWCs, artist names, and durations before returning to export.

The Export widget supports several format presets, each designed for a specific destination:

One row per composer per song. Contains 19 columns of data formatted for Kobalt’s intake process. Exports as CSV or Excel.

Consolidated format that includes owner details. Best for Musicbed’s composer onboarding workflow. Exports as CSV or Excel.

Standard split sheet format with no platform-specific requirements. Useful for direct artist collaborations or custom workflows. Exports as CSV or Excel.

Multi-tab format containing separate sheets for Works, Writers, and Publishers. Ideal when registering with performing rights organizations. Exports as CSV, Excel, or PDF.

Select your format using the dropdown at the top of the widget. The description updates to explain what each format includes.

Depending on the selected format, you can choose your output file type:

File TypeBest For
CSVUniversal compatibility, importing into any system
Excel (.xlsx)Maintaining formatting, multi-tab sheets, easy editing
PDFSharing read-only documents, print-ready output

The available file types update automatically when you switch formats. For example, PRO Registration format includes PDF as an option, while Kobalt and Musicbed formats do not.

Once you have selected your format and file type, click the Export button. The button label updates to match your choice (e.g., “Export CSV”, “Export Excel”, “Export PDF”).

When you click Export:

  1. The button shows a loading spinner with “Exporting…”
  2. Your browser’s Save As dialog opens automatically, letting you choose where to save the file
  3. If your browser does not support Save As dialogs, the file downloads directly to your default downloads folder
  4. A success toast appears confirming the export

If something goes wrong — a network error, missing data, or server issue — the widget displays an error message and restores the export button so you can try again.
