Background & Theme

Your public profile is where collaborators, labels, and industry contacts learn who you are. A distinctive header image sets the tone before they even read a word. In this section, you can upload your own background photo and adjust how it displays — softening edges with blur or fading it with opacity — to create a polished look that reflects your brand.

The Background & Theme section gives you two visual controls for your profile header:

  • Header Background Image — a wide banner photo that spans the top of your public page
  • Theme Overlay Settings — blur and opacity sliders that determine how the background appears behind your profile content

Together, these let you create everything from crisp, bold header images to subtle, cinematic gradients that let your bio and music take center stage.

Your header image appears at the top of your public profile page. It works best when you use a wide landscape photo — something like a studio shot, a live performance, or a stylized graphic that represents your sound.

The upload accepts three image formats: JPG, PNG, and WebP. Keep your file under 10 MB for best performance. Wider aspect ratios look best — a 16:9 or 21:9 banner image fills the header space nicely on both desktop and mobile screens.

  1. Click the upload area or the Upload Image button in the Background section
  2. Select your image file from your computer
  3. Wait for the upload to complete — a progress indicator appears during transfer
  4. Your new header image saves automatically once processed

If you already have a background image set, uploading a new one replaces it. There is no separate “replace” action needed.

To go back to no header image, click the Remove button below the current preview. This clears your header and returns your profile to the default appearance.

Once you have a header image set, you can fine-tune how it blends with the rest of your profile using two sliders:

The blur slider softens the background image, creating a subtle bokeh effect that draws attention to your profile content. Drag the slider to choose a blur value from 0px (sharp and crisp) up to 20px (heavily softened).

Lower blur values work well if your background has important visual elements you want to remain visible. Higher blur values create a more atmospheric feel and make text overlays easier to read.

The opacity slider controls how visible the background image is behind your profile content. At 100%, the image appears at full strength. At lower values, it fades to reveal more of the underlying page color.

If your header image has bright or busy areas, lowering the opacity helps your avatar, name, and bio stay readable without competing for attention.

As you adjust either slider, a preview of your profile header updates in real time. You can see exactly how your changes look before saving them. This makes it easy to experiment with different combinations until the balance feels right.

Finding the perfect balance depends on your background image and how you want your profile to feel. Here are some starting points:

For busy studio photos — try 8–12px blur with 60–70% opacity. This softens distracting details while keeping the atmosphere of the shot.

For clean graphic headers — set blur to 0px and keep opacity at 100%. Sharp, bold graphics look best without modification.

For portraits or close-up shots — use 15–20px blur with 50–60% opacity. This creates a cinematic gradient effect and keeps focus on your name and avatar.
