Artwork Widget
The Artwork widget lives in the activity panel and gives you everything you need to manage your track’s visual identity. Whether you’re adding cover art to a single song or uploading artwork to a batch of tracks at once, the widget keeps it straightforward.
When you select a track in your grid, the Artwork widget displays the current album artwork and provides quick actions for uploading new images or generating artwork with AI. Select multiple tracks and those same actions become bulk operations, saving you time when you’re working on full albums or playlists.
Viewing Artwork
Section titled “Viewing Artwork”The widget shows your track’s album art in a prominent preview area. You’ll see the image displayed at a good size so you can verify it looks right before finalizing anything.
If a track doesn’t have artwork yet, the widget displays a placeholder area with a subtle background pattern. This makes it easy to spot which of your tracks need cover art, especially when you’re scanning through a large collection.
The artwork preview updates immediately after you upload or generate a new image. You don’t need to refresh the page or navigate away — the change appears right there in the widget.
Single Track Selection
Section titled “Single Track Selection”When you select one track, the Artwork widget shows that track’s current artwork and gives you two primary actions:
Upload Image — click this button to choose a file from your computer. The widget accepts JPEG, PNG, and WebP formats, and files must be under 10MB. Your artwork immediately replaces the current preview after a successful upload.
Generate with AI — click this button to have the system create artwork for you based on the track’s metadata. This is handy when you need something fast and don’t have a custom image ready.
Both buttons appear at the bottom of the widget. You can swap between them freely — uploading a custom image after generating one, or vice versa.
Multiple Track Selection
Section titled “Multiple Track Selection”Select two or more tracks in your grid and the Artwork widget adapts to show bulk options. The widget detects that you have multiple tracks selected and enables a unified workflow.
When you click Upload Image while multiple tracks are selected, the same file picker opens. Here’s what happens next:
- You select an image from your computer
- A progress overlay appears showing the upload status
- The widget uploads your artwork to each selected track, one by one
- Once all uploads complete, the widget refreshes with the updated data
- Your track grid thumbnails update to show the new artwork
This bulk workflow is perfect when you’re releasing an album and want consistent cover art across all tracks. One upload replaces manual work for each individual song.
If any uploads fail during a bulk operation, the widget shows you which tracks succeeded and which encountered problems. It won’t leave your tracks in a broken state — failed uploads simply don’t apply, and you can retry them separately.
- Recommended dimensions — while the widget accepts various sizes, square images at 1400×1400 pixels or higher look best across all platforms
- Check formats first — verify your image is JPEG, PNG, or WebP before uploading to avoid rejection
- Bulk uploads preserve metadata — each track retains its own song name, collaborators, and other data; only the artwork changes
- Refresh happens automatically — after bulk uploads, your track grid thumbnails update without requiring a manual refresh
Error States
Section titled “Error States”The widget handles problems gracefully so you’re never left guessing what went wrong.
If you try to upload a file that’s too large, you’ll see a clear error message explaining the 10MB limit. Similarly, unsupported file types trigger a message directing you to use JPEG, PNG, or WebP formats.
When the widget can’t reach the server during an upload, it shows an error notification and doesn’t modify your track’s artwork. Your original image (or lack thereof) stays in place until a successful upload completes.
If the artwork manager isn’t available for some reason, the widget displays a friendly message explaining the situation rather than showing broken controls.
