Quick Start

Welcome to Producer Dashboard! This guide walks you through the quick start process so you can hit the ground running and start organizing your music production workflow.

The Quick Start takes about 5 minutes to complete. It covers everything from creating your profile to choosing how you want to store your audio files. You can skip optional steps along the way if you prefer to set things up later.

When you first sign in, the Quick Start wizard guides you through setting up your workspace. The process is designed to be straightforward — each step asks you to do one thing, and you can always go back to adjust settings later.

Here’s what you’ll encounter:

  • Profile setup — Tell us your name and optionally upload a profile picture
  • Storage connection — Choose where your audio files live (Dropbox or your local computer)
  • PRO registration — Share your performance rights organization details (optional)
  • Collaborators — Add people you work with regularly (optional)
  • Plan selection — Choose the features that fit your workflow

Most users complete the first two steps and save the rest for later. Every section has a “Skip” option, so you’re never locked into a decision.

Your profile is how Producer Dashboard identifies you and organizes your tracks. This step takes less than a minute.

You’ll see an input field for your display name. Use the name you go by professionally — this is what collaborators will see when you work together. Your profile picture is optional but helpful when working with a team.

To add a photo, click the avatar placeholder in the wizard. Select any image under 5 MB. The preview appears immediately so you can confirm it looks right before moving on.

When you’re satisfied with your profile, click Continue. Your changes save automatically.

Producer Dashboard needs to know where your audio files live. You have two options:

If you already use Dropbox to store your stems, bounces, and project files, connecting it takes just a few clicks.

Click Connect Dropbox and sign in to your Dropbox account when prompted. Producer Dashboard requests access only to a dedicated folder — it cannot see your entire Dropbox.

Once connected, the app scans your folders and automatically organizes your tracks. You’ll see your songs appear in the grid view within minutes.

If you prefer to keep your files on your computer, the desktop app lets you point Producer Dashboard to a local folder. This option is available only when running the desktop version — the web app requires cloud storage.

Click Use Local Folder, then select the folder where you keep your music production files. The app indexes your local files and syncs them with your dashboard.

Performance Rights Organizations (PROs) like ASCAP, BMI, SESAC, and PRS collect royalties on your behalf. If you’re registered with one, you can add those details to Producer Dashboard.

This information helps track which PRO should receive credit for each song. It’s especially useful when working with collaborators or managing published tracks.

Click Skip for Now if you’re not registered yet — you can always add this later from your settings.

Producer Dashboard lets you collaborate with other producers, songwriters, and engineers. If you already know who you work with, you can add them here.

Enter their email addresses and assign their credit split percentages. For example, if you and a collaborator wrote a track together, you might set splits at 50/50 or 60/40 depending on your agreement.

You can skip this step and add collaborators later directly from individual track settings. There’s no limit to how many collaborators you can manage.

The final step asks you to choose a subscription plan. Producer Dashboard offers tiered options:

  • Free — Basic track management, limited storage
  • Paid tiers — Increased storage, advanced collaboration features, priority support

Select the plan that matches your needs. You can change plans anytime from your account settings. If you’re unsure, start with the free plan — you can upgrade when you need more space or features.

Once you complete the wizard, you’re taken to your main dashboard. Here’s what you’ll see:

  • Track Grid — Your songs displayed as cards with artwork, titles, and workflow stages
  • Activity Panel — A collapsible sidebar showing recent comments, todos, and notifications
  • Import Progress — If you connected storage, you’ll see your files being scanned and added to your library

Your first import might take a few minutes depending on how many files you have. You’ll see a progress indicator in the header while files are being processed.

If the connection doesn’t complete, check that you’re signed into the correct Dropbox account. You can disconnect and reconnect anytime from Settings > Storage.

After connecting storage, give the app a few minutes to scan your folders. If files still don’t appear, verify they’re in the correct folder structure. Producer Dashboard expects audio files (WAV, MP3, FLAC) and project files (Ableton Live, Logic Pro, Pro Tools) to be organized in dedicated folders.

Ensure your image is under 5 MB and in a common format like JPG or PNG. If the upload fails, try a smaller file or different image.
