Sharing Overview

Sharing your music is at the heart of what Producer Dashboard does. Whether you need to send a work-in-progress to a collaborator, deliver final bounces to a client, or share a playlist with fans, the sharing system gives you flexible options that put you in control.

This guide covers everything you need to know about sharing from your dashboard, including how to create share links, set download permissions, and monitor how your content performs once it’s out in the world.

When you share something from Producer Dashboard, you’re creating a temporary web link that recipients can open to listen, preview, or download your files. Behind the scenes, these links connect to your Dropbox account, where your audio files live. This means you never have to worry about uploading files twice or managing separate storage — everything stays in one place.

You can share individual tracks, entire track groups, or curated playlists. Each share link can be customized with its own expiration date, download permissions, and tracking settings. If you need to revoke access later, you can do that instantly from your dashboard.

Important: Share links require a connected Dropbox account. All files served through share pages come from your Dropbox storage using temporary, secure links.

Before you can create any share links, make sure you’ve connected Dropbox in your Settings. If your Dropbox connection expires or disconnects, share links will still work for listening, but downloads will be paused until you reconnect.

If you see an error about Dropbox when creating a share link, head to Settings and reconnect your account. This is a one-time setup, and your files stay safe in your Dropbox until you’re ready to share them.

Producer Dashboard offers several sharing methods depending on your goal:

Share links are ideal when you want to send a collection of tracks to someone — a playlist of demos for feedback, a package of bounces for approval, or a showcase of finished work. You select up to 50 tracks, customize the settings, and generate a single link that recipients can open to stream or download.

Share links work great for:

  • Sending work-in-progress to collaborators for feedback
  • Delivering final files to clients
  • Creating a listening page for a specific project

When you’re working with collaborators who have Dropbox accounts, folder sharing lets you organize files in a shared Dropbox structure. This gives collaborators direct access to project files, stems, and sessions — not just the final bounces.

Folder sharing is particularly useful when:

  • Multiple people need ongoing access to project files
  • You want collaborators to be able to upload their own contributions
  • You’re sharing stems and session files that change frequently

Your public page is a persistent, customizable showcase that lives at your personal Producer Dashboard URL. Unlike share links, your public page stays active as long as you want it to. You can update its content anytime and share the link across social media, your website, or email signatures.

To create a share link for a playlist:

  1. Select the tracks you want to share from your grid (hold Shift or Command to select multiple)
  2. Open the Share tab in the right panel
  3. Choose which files to include — bounces, stems, or project files
  4. Set your download permissions (what formats recipients can download)
  5. Choose an expiration date or set the link to never expire
  6. Click Create Share Link
  7. Copy the generated link and send it to your recipient

The share page that recipients see includes your track artwork, project details, and only the download options you’ve enabled. You can always update permissions or revoke the link later.

When you create a share link, you control what recipients can download. Options include:

  • No downloads — Recipients can only stream tracks
  • Bounces only — Recipients can download the final rendered audio files
  • Stems included — Recipients can also download individual instrument stems
  • Full project access — Recipients get everything including project/session files

You can change these settings at any time, even after you’ve created the link. Changes take effect immediately for anyone who visits the share page.

Every share link tracks useful metrics that help you understand how your content is being received:

  • Access count — How many times the share page has been visited
  • Download count — How many times files have been downloaded, broken down by track and format
  • Last accessed — When someone most recently viewed the share page

This data appears in the share management section of your dashboard. If you’re sharing with clients or collaborators, these metrics give you concrete evidence of engagement — much more useful than guessing whether someone actually opened your email attachment.

From the Sharing section in your dashboard, you can:

  • View all active share links — See every share you’ve created with its current stats
  • Revoke access — Instantly disable a share link so it no longer works
  • Edit settings — Update permissions or expiration on existing links
  • Copy share URLs — Get the current link to send again
  • View detailed analytics — See per-track download data and access history

If you need to share an update to a recipient, you can either update the existing share (if you’re using Dropbox folder sharing) or create a new share link with the updated files.
