Creating Todos

When you’re deep in a production session, it’s easy to lose track of what needs fixing or finishing. Todos let you capture those thoughts instantly — whether it’s a reminder to fix a vocal chop, a note to try a different mix approach, or a task for a collaborator — without breaking your creative flow.

The Comments & Todos section lives in the activity panel on the right side of your screen. It’s designed to keep all your track-related notes and tasks in one organized place, right where you need them.

Creating a todo takes just a few seconds. Here’s how:

  1. Select a single track in your grid
  2. Find the Todos widget in the activity panel (it shows a checkbox icon)
  3. Click the Add Todo button at the top of the widget
  4. Fill in the details in the modal that appears
  5. Click Save to add it to your list

The Add Todo button only appears when one track is selected. If you’ve selected multiple tracks, you’ll see a message prompting you to select just one. This keeps todos focused and prevents confusion about which track a task belongs to.

When you create a todo, you’ll fill in some or all of these fields:

This is the main description of your task. Be specific but concise — something like “Fix the resonance on the bass synth at 2:15” is more useful than “Fix bass.”

By default, todos are assigned to you. If you’re working with collaborators on a shared track, you can assign the task to them instead. This helps distribute work and keeps everyone aware of their responsibilities.

Set a deadline to help prioritize your workload. Due dates appear on the todo so you can quickly see what’s urgent. You can leave this blank if there’s no specific deadline.

Assign your todo to a specific workflow category if you use workflows to organize your tasks. This connects your todos to your overall production stages like “Mixing” or “Mastering.”

If your todo relates to a specific moment in the track, add a timecode. This creates a direct link to that position in the audio. When you click the timecode, the playhead jumps right to that spot — perfect for pointing out exact moments that need attention.

If you’re responding to an existing comment and want to turn it into an actionable task, you can link the todo directly to that comment. This creates a connection between the discussion and the follow-up work, so nothing falls through the cracks.

When you’re working on a track with collaborators, you can create todos as long as you have access to that track. This means:

  • You can create todos on tracks you own
  • You can create todos on tracks where you’ve been added as an active collaborator

If you’re added to a track but later removed from the project, your ability to create new todos on that track will be affected. Existing todos you created remain visible, but you won’t be able to add new ones.

This access system keeps todos meaningful and relevant — only people actually working on the track should be adding tasks to it.

Once created, your todos appear in a list within the Todos widget, ordered by when they were added (newest first). Each todo shows:

  • The content description
  • Completion status (checkbox)
  • Who it’s assigned to
  • Due date (if set)
  • Timecode (if linked to a specific moment)

Clicking a timecode takes you directly to that point in the track, making it easy to jump between tasks and the relevant audio.

Todos are designed to be checked off and cleared as you work. When you complete a task:

  • Click the checkbox next to the todo
  • The todo stays visible but shows as completed
  • Completed todos can be filtered or hidden depending on your preference
