Managing Todos
The Todos widget lives inside the activity panel on the right side of your workspace. It lets you capture tasks, assign them to collaborators, set due dates, and track workflow status — all without leaving your session.
Whether you need to remember to fix a vocal bleed, confirm a sample clearance, or send stems to a mixer, todos keep your production checklist visible and actionable.
Accessing the Todos Widget
Section titled “Accessing the Todos Widget”The Todos widget appears in the activity panel alongside other tools like Comments and the Overview. When you select a track in your grid, the widget loads any existing todos linked to that track.
To expand the widget if it is collapsed, click the Todo tab in the activity panel. The widget shows your todos list and the Add Todo button when exactly one track is selected.
Viewing Your Todos
Section titled “Viewing Your Todos”When the Todos widget is expanded, it displays a scrollable list of todos for the currently selected track. Each todo shows:
- A checkbox indicating whether it is complete
- The todo content text
- The assignee name (if assigned to someone other than you)
- A workflow tag or due date, if set
The list is ordered by creation date, with the newest todos appearing first. Completed todos remain in the list with a strikethrough, so nothing gets lost — you can always review what was marked done.
Creating a Todo
Section titled “Creating a Todo”Select a single track in your grid, then click the Add Todo button at the top of the Todos widget. A modal or inline form appears where you can enter the task details.
Fill in the fields that matter for your task:
- Content — describe what needs to be done (required)
- Assigned to — choose a collaborator if someone else should handle this task (defaults to you)
- Due date — set a deadline to keep yourself on schedule
- Workflow tag — categorize the todo by stage, such as “Mixing,” “Review,” or “Delivery”
Click Save to create the todo. It immediately appears in the widget list for the selected track.
Linking a Todo to a Comment
Section titled “Linking a Todo to a Comment”When you are working with timestamped comments, you can link a todo to a specific comment to capture a task directly from feedback. This is useful when a collaborator leaves a note at a specific timecode — instead of manually copying the context, you can convert it to a todo in one step.
If a comment has an associated todo, the comment displays a small indicator. Completing the todo does not remove the original comment — they remain linked but independent.
Updating a Todo
Section titled “Updating a Todo”You can edit any todo you created or own. Click on a todo in the list to open it for editing. From there you can:
- Change the task description
- Mark it complete or reopen it
- Reassign it to a different collaborator
- Update the due date
- Change the workflow tag
Edits save automatically or when you click away from the todo, depending on the interface style. Only the person who created the todo can make changes.
Completing a Todo
Section titled “Completing a Todo”Check the box next to a todo to mark it complete. The text receives a strikethrough, and the todo moves or dims in the list. Completed todos stay visible so you have a record of finished tasks.
To reopen a completed todo, click the checkbox again to uncheck it.
Deleting a Todo
Section titled “Deleting a Todo”If a todo is no longer relevant, you can delete it. Click the trash icon or use the delete option in the todo’s context menu. You must be the original creator of the todo in order to delete it.
Deleting a todo is permanent. If you want to keep a record, consider marking it complete instead.
Todos on Shared Tracks
Section titled “Todos on Shared Tracks”When you are working on a track that is shared with collaborators, you can create todos and assign them to anyone with an active membership on that track. Collaborators see the todo in their view and can mark it complete if it was assigned to them.
If you try to create a todo on a track where you do not have an active membership and are not the owner, the system prevents the action and shows an access denied message. Collaborators with revoked memberships lose the ability to add new todos.
Best Practices for Productive Todos
Section titled “Best Practices for Productive Todos”Keep your todos list useful and focused:
- Be specific — instead of “Fix mix,” write “Reduce vocal bleed at 1:24”
- One task per todo — splitting complex jobs into individual items makes progress easier to track
- Assign clearly — if someone else owns the task, set them as the assignee so they get credit
- Set due dates — deadlines help you prioritize during busy production periods
- Review regularly — check your todos at the start of each session to stay on top of outstanding items
