Timestamped Comments

Timestamped comments let you leave precise, actionable feedback on your bounces. Instead of vague notes like “fix the mix around the second chorus,” you can click on the waveform at exactly the 2:34 mark and leave a note there — so you and your collaborators know exactly what needs attention.

This guide covers how to create, manage, and organise timestamped comments in Producer Dashboard.

When you add a comment while a bounce is loaded in the waveform player, the comment automatically captures the current playback position. That timecode is saved alongside your note, making it easy to jump back to the exact moment in question.

Comments live on bounces, not on track groups. If you have multiple bounces of the same song — different mixes, versions, or stems — each bounce maintains its own set of comments. This keeps feedback focused and relevant to the specific file being discussed.

Producer Dashboard uses a multi-signal system to keep your comments anchored to the right file. If you rename a file or move it to a different folder, the system can still match your comments to the correct audio based on file metadata, path history, or Dropbox identifiers.

This means your notes survive common workflow changes like renaming bounce files or reorganising folders.

  1. Select a track group in the grid to open the activity panel
  2. Click the Comments widget to expand it
  3. Make sure a bounce is loaded in the waveform player — you’ll see the bounce name in the dropdown at the top of the widget
  4. Type your comment in the input field at the bottom
  5. Press Enter or click the send button to post

The comment will automatically include the current playback position as a timecode.

If you want to highlight a specific section rather than a single point:

  1. Click and drag on the waveform to select a region
  2. A popup appears where you can enter your comment
  3. The comment saves with both a start and end timecode, marking the entire range

You can also click anywhere on the waveform while a bounce is playing. A small input field appears where you can type your note. When you submit, the comment captures the exact position you clicked.

If your track group has multiple bounces, use the dropdown at the top of the Comments widget to switch between them. Each bounce displays its own set of comments, filtered to that specific file.

This is useful when you’re reviewing different mix versions or comparing stems — you won’t see comments that belong to other files cluttering your view.

Track groups with recent comment activity show a badge on the grid view:

  • Hot badge (🔥) — appears when there are five or more comments within 48 hours, indicating active discussion
  • Standard badge — shows the total comment count for the track group

If you’re working with collaborators and want to highlight feedback that needs immediate attention, you can pin a comment. Pinned comments appear at the top of the Comments panel, making them impossible to miss.

Only users with master split rights on a track group can pin or unpin comments. If you don’t see a pin option on a comment, your collaborator level doesn’t include that ability.

To pin a comment, look for the pin icon on the comment itself. Click it once to pin, click again to unpin.

You can update the content of your own comments at any time:

  1. Find your comment in the list
  2. Click the edit icon
  3. Modify the text and save

Timecodes remain attached to the comment even after editing. If you need to change the timecode, you’ll need to delete the comment and create a new one at the correct position.

To remove a comment you posted:

  1. Click the delete icon on your comment
  2. Confirm the deletion

Deleted comments cannot be recovered. If you’re working on a shared track and need to remove feedback without losing the discussion context, consider editing instead.

When you share a track group with collaborators, they can also add timestamped comments — as long as they have an active membership in the track group. This makes it easy to collect feedback from producers, mix engineers, or artists without switching tools.

Collaborators see the same bounce selector and comment panel. All comments are visible to everyone with access to the track group, regardless of who posted them.

Your comments remain linked to your account. If you leave a track group, your comments stay with the file but your name remains attached as the author.
